Ene-Liis Semper (Estonia *1969)

Ene-Liis Semper trained as a set designer and works with performances and especially with video. In her works, she exposes her body to extreme situations, which are symbolic of an increasingly brutal everyday life. Ene-Liis Semper herself does not see her work in the tradition of feminist art from the 1960s and 1970s, even though this frame of reference seems to logically suggest itself, as she has no knowledge of it.

"FF/Rew": After reading a short text, the bald artist performs several forms of suicide, first with a rope and noose and then with a pistol. The video is then rewound, undoing these "suicides'.
